Prison Ministry
I helped with the Gospel Express Florida auction yesterday, and then listened to some of the groups sing in the evening. I have been inspired again to go into prisons. After watching some of the pictures and the powerpoint that the Gospel Express had on their prison ministry I have an increased burden for those in prisons. The quartet (Mercy’s Call), that I am a member of, is planning on going into prisons, and I am looking forward to that more than ever now. Those souls in prison are going to be more receptive to the gospel simply because many of them are at the end of their rope. They have had time to reflect on past mistakes and decisions and realize that there has to be something better. Those that are on the outside that are “free” often turn to other things to fill the void that exists in the absence of Christ. We are in a very unique position when going into prisons. We are meeting some of the hardest people in our society in their most vulnerable state. We have an opportunity and position that would probably not be afforded us would we meet these individuals outside of prison.
