Cousin’s Wedding Poem

Published by Jason M under Poetry

Here is a poem that I wrote for my cousin’s wedding, per the request by their parents.

Regina and Calvin

There in her school chair
And while playing Red Rover
Those snappy eyes and brown hair
His heart melted over

It started with the glance
And then a quick smile
And with the hope of a chance
He walked the last mile

With the courage of a mouse
And the love of a song
He went to her house
And took her along

And there at the Ruby Tuesday
From across the table
Began a love to stay
And so started this fable

Now here we are today
With family and friend
From near and far away
To celebrate, this day

Now may God bless and keep
You through the days ahead
And through paths dark and steep
Remember the words He said:

“And if one prevail against him,
two shall withstand him;
and a threefold cord
is not quickly broken.”
(Ec. 4:12, KJV)

God is in Control

Published by Jason M under Poetry, Religion

In times of  pain
We don’t understand
Why, Lord, why me?
I can’t even stand

But always remember
God is in control
And in times like these
He’s guarding your soul

God is always there
Through thick and thin
And in troubled times
You can only win

When the storms of life
Pound us near and far
Remember Christ, look at his hand
And see His nail scar

God Himself died for you
He won’t leave you now
Thank Him that He’s in control
And gladly before Him bow

Thank You

Published by Jason M under Poetry, Religion

I want to thank you, Lord
For your love in my life
And the way you always care
Among this earthly and sensual strife

Thank you, that you cared for me
Even when I didn’t care
You just wanted me to see
That I have to step out and dare

Thank you for all the gifts
That I never deserved
You gave them freely, anyway
And from me you never swerved

The Impossible

Published by Jason M under Poetry, Religion

What is the meaning of faith?
What is the impossible?
Is the impossible ever possible?
These have haunted thinkers for centuries.
They still trouble us today.
Faith is not the possible.
Faith is believing the impossible.
Faith is the opposite of logic.
Faith and logic do not combine.
They cannot be mixed.
Logic is what squelches faith.
It rips and tears it apart,
but only if you allow it.
Faith in the impossible is what destroys logic.
Faith and the impossible are an element not to be separated.
Without the impossible there would be no faith.
They walk together hand in hand.
The impossible is not logical.
It boggles the mind.
It stretches the imagination.
It races into the unknown.
And we become afraid to follow it.
The impossible is around us every day.
And we, blinded by logic don’t see it.
The impossible is what occurred 7,000 years ago.
It happened again 5,000 years later.
It surrounds you even now.
Search for it.
Find it.
Then believe it.
Don’t let logic destroy it.
Step into unknown.
Not only believe the impossible.
DO IT!
Step out in faith,
but not alone.
Walk with the Master of the Impossible.

Angel In His Eyes

Published by Jason M under Poetry

Trials are sent our way
Sometimes easy, sometimes hard
Almost everyday
It’s these trials that make us
Into what we are
Empty and unable to feel
Then leaving a scar
That only God can heal
It’s trials that brake us
Into someone who never cares
Or make us
Into Angels unawares

Many have fallen into Bitter’s mold
Forming a heart
That’s empty and cold
But God gives His hand
For you to hold
Walking you through
And changing your heart
Into something new

In my heart I can see
That though the trials are hard and long
God has changed your heart
And brought forth a song
To the King of the skies
That your an Angel in His eyes

My Grandpa

Published by Jason M under Poetry

He’s my hero,
But not that super hero type.
You read in the stories
With all their glorious hype.
He wasn’t that kind,
So to create a sight
Pulled buildings apart
To display his might.

No, he was a true hero
He didn’t have to fake it
He gave of himself
Instead of trying to take it.
He placed others first,
And put himself last.
He made it his goal,
And his life-ending task.

Are you a hero?
If you could ask him today?
Standing there quietly,
This is what you’d hear him say.
“No I’m not
I’m just an ordinary man
Going about life
Doing the best that I can.
Following my God
My Lord and my King
I can hardly wait
To hear the angels sing.”

Yea, he’s my hero
And he may be gone, but even yet
I hope to follow
That example that he set.
So on he lives
Embedded in our hearts.
This is not the end
But where a new beginning starts.

A Mother’s Prayer

Published by Jason M under Poetry

An autumn sunset
The ocean sprays
A finch twitters
A Mother Prays
The days are cold
The winter is staying
The river is frozen
A Mother is praying
A Mother’s Prayer
Is like no other
A preacher’s words
Is not a Mother’s
A Mothers prayer
A heart of love
A swelling tide
A gentle dove
A Mothers love
True and strong
So her prayers
Tearful and long
A Mother Prays
The Angels stay
God pauses’
In Heaven’s way
A weary Mother
Prays all day
For her son
Who’s gone astray.
Her prayers rise
To heaven above
For her child
That she loves
So blessings fall
On sons of man
Because of God’s love
And a Mother’s Prayer
